I have been hearing two questions more often after the “New Orkut” hype.

1. Where do I get an invite from?

2. How can I invite one?

Let me explain one by one.

1. Where do I get an invite from?

The orkut recommended way of getting an invitation for new orkut is from the community : Get The New Orkut

It’s a community run by Poppy and Shashi, who will be conducting activities and the  lucky participants will get an invite.

The more, working method is to find a friend who is already in new orkut. You have to check for the ‘O’ after the profile name which indicates he/she is in new orkut.

Just ask for an invite, and if  he/she has an invite left, they can invite you. Also try your luck in twitter where donor’s often tweet about the availability of invites. (I got it that way!).

Once you get confirmation from your friend that he/she sent you an invite, check the top bar of your orkut page to see this new button.

You may have to log out and login again to see this button. Just click on that button, and you are now in the all new Orkut.

Now to the second question.

2. How can I invite one?

Orkut gives you 10 invites per batch on each rollout. I got both of mine between 8.00 AM and 9.30 AM IST. Invitation form comes under the ‘My Friends’ box on the right side of your home page.

You can only add some one who is in your friends list. If you cant find a particular friend in the list, that means he/she is already in New Orkut.
