  1. This information is not very accurate – The HTC Magic launched in India does not come with a firmware that has ANY GOOGLE application and does not support installation of anysuch application as Android Market is also not available.

I would suggest NOT to pick up this phone, as i have with me a 30k phone which i can only use to make calls send messages.

  2. I will confirm what rishi has said.. this is a useless phone with no applications wt so ever.. its expensive and totally useless i dont understand how they could have launched a phone and no applications??
    are we fools to them?
    no android market available..

i am planning to sue the company anyone interested in joining me?

  3. my email is aamodr@gmail.com

  4. @aamodr, there is not a snowball’s chance in hell of suing HTC for the skeleton OS – they are doing it at different countries and if u look carefully, nowhere they are promoting the google features – only its custom applications and NO MENTION OF ANDRIOD MARKET.

that said, we could sue them for preventing updates that google issues – there are many security updates that are vital which HTC is blocking. Thats a decent ground.

btw, i rooted my phone. u can do that too.. check out the xda forums.

  5. did u root the phone how? pl tell me .. do u have a perfect SLA or is it SDA they say u cant root it .. did u get the app market ? there is a site called http://www.getjar.com where u can download the apps straight away onto ur phone which seem to work…

  22. Hi,
I appreciate your patience to make such an informative post. But i have a correction found.

“Considering the features and the superior OS – Android from Google, the price is perfect.”

Friend usually more than 35% of the amount we pay for a phone used to be for its firmware. Now Google Android is a free Operating system. I will say HTC Magic/Hero are exploiting Indians.( Actually i am angry to HTC for this act, else i would have been using an Android Phone by now. )

  23. Dear Sumit
even if the operating system is superior it still does nothing or better it is not allowed to do anything then wt is the use of paying so much for a dud .?/ how can u justify this by saying its a superior OS??
Any ways i have hacked it and yes now its superiority is evident.!
so hell with HTC And its CEO who is a Fool….
do u know that the samsung android phone comes with the market pre installed ??//

  24. aamod,
i doubt that we can install .apk if we can navigate our browser to an online hosted file. I dont use an android powered device but have been using emulator for app dev ( currently learning phase. )
I never mentioned it Superior because i will say the UI have to improve a lot, but i love it because we are OpenSource Lovers, and do believe in the vast possibilities.
I really appreciate your previous response.’

  25. Do the android applications work through network internet. None of the applications are working on Vodafone internet services. They strictly need wifi. any idea?

  26. yes they work… i am on airtel and they work with my data plan

  27. @Aamod, Miheer,

The data services dont seem to work on my vodafone connection either.
